The Previous Owner is a psychological horror game for adult players. You run a secondhand bookshop in London in 1994: books are bought in, shelved and sold, and each one carries what its last owner left inside it — pressed flowers, letters, notes down the margins. Across books that have no reason to share a reader, the same hand keeps writing. The unease is a matter of implication and of being alone in a shop after dark; settings are bleak and dark, and some moments are meant to frighten. The game contains no violence, no gore, no blood, no depicted death, no sexual content and no nudity, and nothing pursues or threatens the player.
