What makes this game unique is that you can choose whether to defeat your enemies or befriend them. The items you get will change depending on whether you attack and defeat enemies or befriend them by giving them food. You can also combine items to create "kusuri," items that change your actions and stats. With a "kusuri" you can overcome obstacles that would normally be impossible to overcome. The key to the strategy is what items you get to make the medicine, and whether you defeat or befriend your enemies in order to do so.

The story

Chagama, a ghostly raccoon, is assigned to exterminate rampaging monsters on behalf of a monk. When he defeats the yokai, the Japanese monsters, people thank him, but the yokai disappears.
