Eightfold

Eightfold is a poker-based deckbuilding roguelike. Players build hands from a deck of playing cards, with hands scored to defeat Bosses using standard poker rankings (pairs, straights, flushes, and so on). Runs are structured around selectable decks, each of which modifies core rules — altering hand size, discard counts, scoring conditions, or deck composition. The game features 22 decks, drawing on a circus and stage-performer theme (including Juggler, Sword Swallower, Tumbler, Contortionist, and Mime decks) alongside decks based on illusion and misdirection (Magician, Mentalist, Escape Artist, Cardist). Additional systems include card enhancements, which apply permanent modifiers to individual cards, and curses, which introduce a drawback in exchange for a offsetting benefit. Progression is run-based, with players building a strategy across a sequence of acts using the cards, enhancements, and curses acquired along the way.
